Bringing together archive and new work inspired by Newbiggin by the Sea.

These pieces explore the emotional effects of a changing coastal landscape through industry, community, and mythology.

Immersive installation made up of 3 Short films, projection, perspex, glass, sea coal, found objects, place and sound.

“Ripples, changing tides, heritage and myth, interweave into an abstract canvas”

 

Filmed and edited in Newbiggin by the Sea, Northumberland. A place (certainly when it was filmed in 2008) that if you get up early enough, you could catch a glimpse of the remaining Sea Coalers by horse and cart. Times have certainly changed.

This interview has been gifted from the Turner Family in loving memory of Terence (Terry) Turner 1946-2019. This version was originally used on a touch screen in a Museum display at Newbiggin Maritime Centre, Feb 2022.
